Goat leather is beautifully soft and supple. After vegetable tanning, the leather undergoes an elaborate and meticulous process by hand before it becomes Think Shoes. First, the leather is washed, then beaten, and deliberately not ironed. Emphasizing the "not"! Washed, beaten, not ironed! The exceptional appearance of Austrian goat leather was impressively explained to us during our first visit to the Think Shoes production facility, and it reminded us of James Bond and his famous "shaken, not stirred" Martini.
During the drying process, as the leather hangs in large skins, it wrinkles and takes on a character similar to a crumpled shirt. This process gives the leather its unique character, completely devoid of signs of wear and tear. It is precisely this character that makes every Think shoe so distinctive.
Think also uses fine Italian leathers such as soft calfskin, supple nappa leather, suede, and cowhide with various finishes. Whether oiled, waxed, or buffed, different processing steps result in varying appearances and beautiful textures, making the same design look more elegant or casual.
